Most Edinburgh heating firms will not publish a repair price. Here is ours, part by part, with the threshold at which replacing beats repairing. Every figure includes parts, labour and VAT.
How much does a boiler repair cost in Edinburgh?
A boiler repair in Edinburgh costs £95 for the fixed diagnostic, which is deducted in full from the repair. Most repairs then land between £120 and £420 all-in including parts, labour and VAT. Out-of-hours attendance is £140. If the repair would exceed roughly £600 on a boiler over ten years old, a like-for-like combi replacement at £2,295 is the better value and we say so.

Heatscape charges a fixed £95 diagnostic across every EH postcode, deducted in full from any repair carried out on the same visit. Out of hours (after 6pm and weekends) is £140. Most common repairs land between £120 and £420 all-in including parts and labour. If a repair would cost more than about £600 on a boiler over 10 years old, we quote a like-for-like replacement at £2,295 instead.
Do you offer fixed-price boiler repairs?
Yes. The diagnostic is a fixed £95 and every repair is quoted in writing before any work starts. There are no parking charges, no congestion fees, no inspection levies and no hourly overruns added afterwards.
Do you charge extra for the Edinburgh city centre or congestion areas?
No. One price across every EH postcode — no parking surcharge in the New Town, no access levy for Old Town closes, no zone loading for Leith or Portobello.
How do I know whether to repair or replace my boiler?
Our rule: replace if the boiler is over 12 years old, if the repair exceeds about 40% of replacement cost, if it has failed twice in 12 months, or if parts are obsolete. Under those thresholds, repair is almost always the better value. The engineer gives you both figures on the visit so you decide, not us.
Can a minor boiler fault be fixed without a full replacement?
Almost always. Diverter valves, expansion vessels, pumps, fans, PRVs, thermistors and PCB fuses are all routine repairs on a boiler under 12 years old, and they cost a fraction of a replacement.
Do you offer a boiler cover plan instead of paying per repair?
Yes — our plan is £14/month, includes the annual service, drops the diagnostic fee to £0 and puts you at the front of the queue. It is cancellable monthly, unlike most utility cover contracts.
Quoted on Monday, fitted by Friday. Fixed price, no surprises, and the engineer cleaned up better than I did. House is finally warm in the upstairs bedrooms.

Tenement flue routing was a nightmare with the last quote we got. Heatscape actually solved it and dealt with the factor for us. Damp gone too.
